Franktown by the numbers

Franktown ranks 98th among Colorado cities by contractor profiles in HomeProFax, with 100 businesses and licensed tradespeople listed at local addresses, with ZIP 80116 home to the largest share. 64% of them show an active license on file, above the Colorado-wide figure of 54% for the profiles we hold.

Because Colorado leaves roofing, general contracting and HVAC to cities, we also pull municipal license lists. Franktown firms hold 29 licenses on them (Aurora (20), Arvada (8) and Thornton (1)), among them 2 roofing licenses, 7 general contractor licenses and 1 HVAC/mechanical license. Board discipline: 4 Franktown records have a DORA discipline flag (3 electrical, 1 plumbing). 3 belong to licenses that are still active, so a current license alone doesn't rule out past discipline.

Most of the Franktown list is made up of DORA-licensed tradespeople, specifically 53 electrical licenses (14 masters, 17 journeymen, 5 residential wiremen) and 35 plumbing licenses (14 masters, 6 journeymen). Companies are a minority: 9 active electrical contractor and 7 active plumbing contractor registrations, against 57 individual tradespeople. The median first-license year is 1999. 43 records predate 2000, and 5 licenses were first issued in 2024 or later.

Permit history: 1 Franktown-based contractors have 19 permits on file from City of Boulder open data, and at least 0 of the listed permits were issued in the last 12 months (latest 2025-05-16). Most permitted: Century Electric Company LLC (19). Common types: electrical permit (14), fire permit (1), building permit - non-residential (1). These are jobs these firms did in Boulder or Denver. Franktown doesn't publish permits in a portal we cover yet, so no permits shown doesn't mean no permits pulled.

Storm season in Franktown

Per the RMIIA, Colorado's Front Range gets the highest frequency of large hail in North America, with three or four storms a year causing at least $25 million in insured damage. Eight of the twelve costliest Colorado hailstorms on RMIIA's list were centered on the Denver metro, led by the May 8, 2017 storm at $2.3 billion in insured losses. If a roofer knocks on your door after hail, two state rules apply: you can rescind an insurance-funded roofing contract within 72 hours of a written denial (C.R.S. 6-22-104), and promising to cover your deductible is illegal (C.R.S. 6-22-105).
