About HomeProFax.com
HomeProFax.com is a free contractor history report for homeowners, the idea behind a vehicle history report applied to the people you let into your home. One report brings together a contractor's license status, building permits, board discipline flags and business registration from public records, and every fact links to the agency that published it.
HomeProFax.com was founded by David Linda and is operated by Repdigi LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company doing business as HomeProFax.

Why HomeProFax exists
Before you buy a used car, you can pull its history in a minute. Before you hand a contractor a deposit that can run into the tens of thousands of dollars, there has been no equivalent. The facts exist, but they are scattered: state boards publish license rosters, cities publish building permits, secretaries of state publish business registrations, and each one has its own search form and vocabulary.
Colorado shows how fragmented it gets. The state licenses electricians and plumbers through the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), but general contractors and roofers are licensed by individual cities, so checking one Denver-area contractor can mean three or four different websites. In our own data, only 48,208 of the 105,989 Colorado electrical and plumbing license records we hold are active (45%), and 2,112 carry a board action. A homeowner reading a business card cannot see any of that. A HomeProFax report shows it on one page.
That is the whole idea: ask your contractor for their verified HomeProFax report. A contractor who has claimed and verified their profile can send you one link, and you can read their license, permits and record before you sign. If they do not have one yet, search their name free and read the report that public records already built.
What we do, and what we do not do
We do:
- Match public records to the right business. Matching runs on license number first, then business name with city and state, then phone, and weak matches are held back rather than published.
- Show the license line (issuer, type, status and expiry), permit history where a city publishes it, discipline flags where a board publishes them, and business registration where we have confirmed it.
- Summarize the record with a published 0 to 100 score: license 35 points, discipline 20, permits 20, reviews 25. Missing coverage scores neutral, not negative.
- Say what we do not have. An empty section means no record in the sources we hold, not proof of anything about the business.
We do not:
- Perform, inspect, guarantee or certify any work. A score is a summary of public records, never a rating of workmanship.
- Act as a consumer reporting agency. Our reports are not consumer reports under the FCRA.
- Scrape or store Google, Yelp, Angi or Houzz ratings. Profiles link out to them instead.
- Sell homeowner quote requests. Requests sent through Get matched stay on HomeProFax.
Independence: contractors cannot pay to change a score
A contractor history report is only useful if the contractor cannot buy a better one. On HomeProFax.com:
- Scores change only when the underlying public records or approved homeowner reviews change, under the formula on our methodology page.
- Claiming a profile is free. Claimed owners can add contact details, insurance and service areas, which are labeled as owner-provided, but they cannot remove accurate public records.
- Paid upgrades for claimed profiles are coming later. They will not touch the score or the record.
- HomeProFax is not owned by a contractor, a lead marketplace or a review platform.
How profiles get corrected or claimed
Corrections (anyone). If a fact on a report is wrong, send it through the corrections form with the correct information and, ideally, the source. We check every request against the original agency record, then update or annotate the report. If HomeProFax and the issuing board disagree, the board is right and we fix our copy.
Claims (contractors). A business owner can claim their profile free. The claim starts as pending, we email a six-digit code to confirm the address (it expires in 48 hours), automated checks compare the claim with the license record, and an admin approves it. A Claimed badge means an approved claim. A Verified badge additionally requires a confirmed license match. Unclaimed profiles are built from public records alone, which is most of them.
