What you get when you claim
- Your correct phone and website on the report homeowners read.
- Photos and service areas that show the work you do.
- A Verified badge after review: once your email is confirmed, checks pass and an admin approves.
- The ability to dispute anything that’s wrong. We check disputes against the original source.
Claiming is free and never takes payment.

Questions contractors ask
How does claiming work, step by step?
- Find your profile. Search your business name at the top of this page, or paste your profile slug or URL into the form above. If your business has a public license or permit record in our sources, a profile may already exist.
- Submit the claim. Your claim starts as Pending verification. Automated checks compare the license number and state, business name, address, phone, and email domain you provide against the profile.
- Confirm your email. We email a six-digit code that expires in 48 hours. Confirming email proves you control that inbox; by itself it does not issue a badge.
- Admin approval. An admin reviews the checks before a Verified badge can appear. If a profile is already claimed, a new claim is routed as an ownership dispute rather than creating a second owner.
- Keep it accurate. Approved owners receive an update link to correct details. Public-record facts still cite their source; if a board record itself is wrong, correct it with the board and then tell us so we can re-check the source.
What doesn’t claiming do?
Claiming does not delete public records, hide discipline or permit history, raise your score, or guarantee homeowner inquiries. Your score changes only when the underlying public-record factors or approved reviews change, under the published Score v2 formula. A Verified badge is issued only after your email is confirmed, checks pass, and an admin approves; claiming alone does not create a badge.
Why does my profile exist if I never signed up?
Profiles are built from public records such as license registers and permit data. That is why claiming is a verification process rather than a sign-up form.
Can I remove negative information?
You can dispute information that is wrong, outdated, or matched to the wrong business, and we check disputes against the original source. Accurate public records remain, with their source named.
Does HomeProFax rate my workmanship?
No. The HomeProFax score sums public-record factors (license status, discipline and legal flags, permit history) and approved homeowner reviews. It is not a rating of workmanship. See how scores work.
Are there paid tools for contractors?
