Dacono by the numbers

Dacono is a small market in our records: 94 contractor profiles list a business address here, and electrical licenses are the largest group. 5 profiles carry a state board discipline flag (4 electrical, 1 plumbing), and 4 of those licenses are still active. A flag can mean anything from a paperwork lapse to a serious finding, so read the board record behind it. 15 Dacono business licenses sit on city lists (Thornton (6), Arvada (5) and Aurora (4)), the only public record for trades the state doesn't license. That includes 7 general contractor licenses and 3 HVAC/mechanical licenses.

State licensing boards are the main source here: we count 63 electrical licenses (9 masters, 41 journeymen, 7 residential wiremen) and 24 plumbing licenses (4 masters, 14 journeymen) in Dacono. Most entries are individual tradespeople (77), not companies. Only 2 active electrical contractor and 1 active plumbing contractor registrations are based here, and those are the businesses that can sell electrical or plumbing work to you directly. About 56% are active, in line with the 54% we see statewide, and 41 records have lapsed.

The median first-license year is 2002. 41 records predate 2000, and 8 licenses were first issued in 2024 or later.

Permit history: 2 Dacono-based contractors have 90 permits on file from City of Boulder open data, and at least 0 of the listed permits were issued in the last 12 months (latest 2022-07-12). Most permitted: Montgomery Electric (87), Winterhawk Electric LLC (3). Common types: electrical permit (46), fire permit (36), mechanical permit (3). These are jobs these firms did in Boulder or Denver. Dacono doesn't publish permits in a portal we cover yet, so no permits shown doesn't mean no permits pulled.

Licensing in Dacono

Colorado licenses electricians and plumbers statewide through the DORA State Electrical Board and the DORA State Plumbing Board. General contractors, roofers and HVAC contractors are licensed, if at all, by the local city or county. We haven't verified Dacono's local rules yet, so check with the building department before you hire. Most Dacono ZIP codes in our data are in Weld County, so the city or Weld County building department is where to ask.

Hail, roofs and your contract

Dacono sits on the Front Range, in the heart of "Hail Alley." The Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association says the region usually sees three or four catastrophic hailstorms a year, and the damaging season runs from mid-April to mid-September. After a storm, Colorado law lets you cancel an insurance-paid roofing contract within 72 hours of a written claim denial (C.R.S. 6-22-104), and a roofer may not offer to pay or waive your deductible (C.R.S. 6-22-105).
