Arizona contractors
1,910 contractor profiles · 1,154 with an active license on file.
HomeProFax lists 1,910 contractor profiles with Arizona business addresses; 1,154 show an active license on file. We have not yet integrated Arizona's own licensing sources, so these profiles come from other states' board records, the local license sources we hold, or our research sources — a profile without a license here is not evidence the contractor is unlicensed in Arizona.
Before you hire, read how to check a contractor before you hire and confirm the license with the issuing agency.
How contractor licensing works in Arizona
Arizona licenses contractors statewide. The Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) requires a license when a job's labor and materials total more than $1,000, or when the work needs a local building permit at any price. The "handyman" exemption covers only casual, minor work under $1,000, and it does not apply if a job is split into smaller contracts to stay under the limit (A.R.S. § 32-1121; ROC license classifications).
Residential, commercial or dual. ROC licenses are issued by classification. For work on your home, the contractor needs a residential or dual license in the right trade. The ROC's posting list of Oct 20, 2026 shows 58,567 current contractors: 47,717 residential, 47,311 commercial and 36,613 dual licenses, which overlap (ROC posting list).
Protection you only get with a licensed contractor. Homeowners can file a complaint against a licensed contractor's license, generally within two years of occupancy or the last work. If a licensed residential contractor's work is not corrected, the ROC's Residential Contractors' Recovery Fund can pay up to $30,000, after a bond claim and other conditions are met (ROC Recovery Fund). Hiring an unlicensed contractor gives up both.
